If you are thinking about getting some cute little fur balls like these then you might want to ask yourself a few questions. Like, Do I have space to contain gerbils?, Are my children old enough to take responsibility of a pet?, Will we have time for gerbils?
Gerbils are very social animals and like to be handled, but if you, or any children are to ruff with your gerbils, they may end up hiding from you or you may lose your gerbils.
Gerbils also need a space to run around in and sleep in, so before you buy a gerbil think about its cage. Wood cages are ideal, and so are many others but there are a few cages you may need to think about...
First things First

Gerbil
Care

Cages
We use a wood and glass cage for our gerbils and it works perfectly for us and our gerbils. The choice is up to you but take some precautions on the safety of your gerbils. Cages with wire, often called gerbilarium's, are great areas for your gerbil to live except,
They may chew on the metal bars which isn't good for their teeth
They don't have any room to run around in
When they dig, they may fling out pieces of bedding through the bars
If the bars aren't too close together your gerbils may be able to squeeze through.
Wood and glass cages are brilliant for gerbils and they can't get through them. Again, it is your choice, but make sure your gerbils are happy where they are.
